US vs USSR

United States type of government (capitalism) is pretty much a polar opposite to the Soviet Union’s government (communism). There are so many differences in many different areas, such as: Trade, Industry, Agriculture, and payment methods.

There is a metaphor used to compare these two types of governments is used with cows.  A capitalism government is compared to this phrase – “You have two cows, and then you sell one and buy a bull.” This means that our society always wants the best they can get at the best price and value, and the freedom of the people. A communist government however is compared to this phrase – “You have two cows, you have to take care of them and then the government takes all of the milk. This means that you work and work, and the government gets all the money and product you make. And you don’t have much freedom of businesses and money.

There are also huge differences in trade policies. The United States purpose in trading is to trade with as many countries as they can, whereas the Soviet Union’s aim is to trade with only other communist countries. The U.S. also likes to defend many countries for an opportunity to open up trade with them. Then again, the U.S.S.R is very self-sufficient so they are very able to trade with few countries.

What is containment? Containment is recognized the possible fact that Eastern Europe was already lost to communism. Therefore, the US had to resist the Soviet Union's attempts to form communist government elsewhere in the world.

Holocaust/Japanese Atrocities

Dr. Josef Mengele V.S. Dr. Shiro Ishii

Between the two doctors, they both are equally merciless and evil. But I think that Dr. Josef Mengele was the one who did the worst acts during WWII.

Mengele was mostly interested in children. His favorite “types” were twins and kids with two different eye colors, also known as,  heterochromia. He would lure the innocent children with toys and candy so they would trust him. And most times when he used twins, whenever one died from his experiments, he would kill the other almost immediately to compare the results.

One twin prisoner who is still alive today said that after she was experimented on for several days, she was drifting in and out consciousness, and said that she had to live. If she wouldn’t of survived that her sister would have been dead as well; she was free of the life threatening chemicals.

Dr. Ishii used many ages of people. In the beginning of his employment he was just a Senior Army Surgeon. But then he was allowed to start performing experiments on the Chinese prisoners during the war. He tested firearms, bombs, and many germ warfare weaponry on people. Another thing he tested were many bio-weapons like, bubonic plague, cholera, anthrax and many more on Chinese soldiers. He also performed many experiments similar to those of Josef Mengele.

For these two, there post war lives were very different.

Dr. Mengele fled Germany so he wouldn’t get caught for doing his heinous crimes. But eventually he did.

Dr. Ishii, on the other hand was arrested, but not prosecute for anything because of the removal of case Unit 731 from the files.

Preparedness for war

I believe the US has to fight for war. They have to prepare in nationalistic ways. They have to recruit soldiers that will fight for our country with all their heart and all the courage it takes. We must prepare by forming alliances and  arming our forces. We have ancestral ties with Great Britain and France and many other countries. I believe the assassination of Archduke was way out of line and now we should fight for what's right.

Torture Camps

CIA's salt Prison article: I believe they have gone too far with this camp. I think that if they want to punish that person for being a part of Osama Bin Laden’s plan, they should sentence him to jail for life. I cannot believe that they went as far as to deprive him from sleep. You would think that sleep is the only way to get away from the torture he has endured. It is so inhumane that the suspected body guard should be released free of charges and the torturers should be sentenced for life in jail.

Two Docs got 80mil article: I am also shocked that our government paid 80 million dollars to two psychiatrists, that they basically just picked up off the street. They were hired to mentally torture the people at these black camps, which basically turned out to be physical torture as well. I dont understand why the United states would choose to sink down to that level. We are better than that. And why would they pick just some random “psychiatrists” of the street to do the dirty work for the government. And why would the government spend that much money to just torture people? How inhumane are we?

I think that is the wrong way to go with this case. I think obama should sentence the crimes that the statute of limitations have not run out on. I also believe that if Obama does choose to sentence the people responsible, it will turn out to be bad because the government could just do the illegal torture methods again.

Muckraker Blog

According to this New York Times article George Bush issued a secret order that allowed the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) to build secret prisons overseas. And the CIA actually allowed it! This took place before George Bush left office. Now, president Obama wants to pardon this incident!

Many groups and organizations have been searching for the people who were in charge of these illegal prisons for 13 years. They even tried to call a special prosecutor to try and find the truth, or if it actually was the truth, or both but now the calls have been disregarded. This means that the people who were responsible can’t be prosecuted for the crimes because the statute of limitations has run out.

Now Obama and the Justice Department has not shown willingness to hold anybody accountable. And apparently it abused the “state secrets” authority to deflect cases brought up by prisoners. Also, if our military captured the leader of the Islamic State who had valuable information about the torture camps, there would be a very high chance that the interrogators would use very illegal methods which the Obama administration has not allowed.

Even though the statute of limitations has run out, not all of them have. So this means that Obama’s Administration could still take measures to hold accountable the officials who authorized the torture. The Senate even has a blue print for the criminal investigations, even though the intelligence committee did not say to do that.

I believe that Obama’s choice to pardon this whole case could be good and bad. It could be good because it could stop from illegal interrogations to takes place and it could be bad because if they do pardon this case, the torture camps could continue to run and torture people. 

Lessons I Learned from Taking Chance

There are many lessons I’ve learned from this movie. I learned what it’s truly like to be a soldier from the navy, army, air force, and any other military related groups. There are many other things you have you do than just fighting in war all the time. Most of these things can be harder than fighting the actual war. And also, people notice you way more than you think.

Lesson 1 : It is really hard to leave you family for such long periods of time. Sometimes the pain of missing them is worse than actually getting hurt or fighting in war. It would be hard for families too. Families will always miss you when you go away to fight for our country.

Lesson 2 : You don’t only fight at war. You sometimes have to carry the caskets of soldiers who died during the service. And it is also emotionally hard to do that sometimes. Some people may know if you are carrying a casket or they may not know at all. They still know you served for our country and that you are very important and courageous.

Lesson 3 : You leaving does not only affect your family but it affects others who have once fought in war. They know what you are going through and they understand what it is like to carry around a casket to the funeral home. They will treat you like a normal person and they will cheer you up.

Lesson 4 : Once you fight in war for America you will always be an American Soldier. You will always be loved by many and thanked for fighting. Just remember that you deserve that praise and you will always be remembered. No matter if you died trying or if you are alive to this day. 

Gun Control in America

The Second Amendment means to guarantee the right to keep and bear arms as necessary to maintain a state militia; that basically means you have the right to have as many guns as necessary to make a functional military group within a community. I believe the second amendment plays a huge part in our “gun toting society.” The reason I think this is because this gives people the right to own guns, but do they know when enough is enough? The second amendment says you can have enough guns necessary to make a military group in your community, but is having a gun in every house a little excessive? I think so.

I also believe that the media has a part of our “gun toting community.” I believe this because all the media does is scare us with so many murderers, rapists, and criminals that people think they need guns because they are scared it’s going to happen to them. If the media doesn't stop this, who knows what could happen in the future.

Do guns kill people or do people kill people? I believe it’s a little bit of both, but I’m more lenient with people killing people. People kill people because how do guns pull the trigger by themselves? There has to be some type of human involved. Just like can bombs just automatically blow up by themselves? No, because there has to be a human there to program or light it. Guns also kill people because the ability to have guns alone kills people.

I think that Obama’s executiveorders on gun control are a good way to help make society safer. I believe they do a good job of regulating guns and ammunition. I think these orders will make the communities and schools safer around the U.S. There are many orders he has such as giving schools the ability to use federal grant money to hire school resource officers or giving communities’ money to create programs to keep guns away from people who shouldn't have them.

I believe the future for guns laws is uncertain. It has potential to get better and to get worse. If the U.S. continues to go by Obama's executive orders on gun control, then I think it can only get better. However, if the media continues to scare people like this it could stay the same or just get worse. My hopes for the future are that the media takes broadcasting “bad” news down a notch, and the U.S continues to follow Obama's executive orders on gun control.
